Veterans' Homelessness, Transitional Housing, and Employment Resources
Southern California
North County Interfaith Council, dba Interfaith Community Services, was founded in 1979 by a handful of diverse faith communities to address the needs of low-income, homeless, and underserved populations. As membership and participation grew, Interfaith evolved into a continuum of programs and services that provides the tools and resources people in crisis need to stabilize and rebuild their lives. These programs are organized into five main areas: basic needs, housing, counseling, employment services, and drug & alcohol rehabilitation. In addition to general homeless services, Interfaith has special programs for veterans which includes job-seeker assistance, emergency shelter, transitional housing in Oceanside and Escondido, and psychological and health services. For information about services, call the Vet Rep in Escondido (760) 489-6380, or in Oceanside (760) 721-2117.
Veterans Village of San Diego (VVSD) is a non profit 501(C)(3) organization that has served all veterans since 1981, and vows to "Leave No One Behind" --doing what they can to get veterans off the streets and back to a safe and stable environment; giving them the treatment and care they need and deserve. VVSD is located at 4141 Pacific Highway, in San Diego, and can be reached at (619) 497-0142.<!--[if gte mso 9]--> In cooperation with Father Joe's Village, VVSD also provides case management and counseling to veterans living at Father Joe's Village for the homeless in Downtown San Diego, and residential (HUD/VASH) housing services through the New Resolve Residential Program in Escondido at (760) 745-7829.
