Social Security claims

So that we can better focus on the special needs of veterans, THE LAW OFFICE OF AMRIT SIDHU is not actively soliciting new Social Security Disability appeal cases.

If you are in the Southern Oregon area and you have received a letter from the Social Security Administration denying your application for benefits, we recommend that you immediately contact the Medford office of Black, Chapman, Webber, & Stevens at (541) 772-9850, a private law firm that specializes in social security disability, workers' compensation, and personal injury.  You can also visit them on the web at www.blackchapman.com.

If you wish to speak with a different attorney for any of these problems, the Oregon State Bar’s Lawyer Referral Service (LRS) can refer you to a lawyer who has agreed to provide an initial office consultation for $35.00 or less.  Any additional fees must be arranged between yourself and that attorney.  For more information, contact the LRS at 503-684-3763, or toll-free in Oregon at 1-800-452-7636.

In other states, try googling your state bar lawyer referral service.

WARNING!  If you have been received a notice that your claim has been denied by the Social Security Administration, you have a very limited time in which to appeal.  Acting promptly to preserve your claim is absolutely crucial.

DID YOU KNOW...?

  • For Social Security purposes, a disability can be a physical impairment, a mental impairment, or a combination of physical and mental impairments.
  • Social Security disability claimants include people from all walks of life, including skilled workers, professionals, and laborers.
  • SSDI/DIB pays benefits to claimants who are "insured," meaning that they worked for a certain period of time and paid Social Security taxes.
  • SSI pays benefits based on financial need.
  • Both SSDI/DIB and SSI require the claimant to meet Social Security's definition of disability: total disability that results in the inability to work. The disability must last or be expected to last for at least one year, or to result in death.
